Location

Sunrise Retreat is a 1200 square foot year round home beautifully located on Esson Lake, just 5 minutes south west from the village of Wilberforce Ontario. It is 20 minutes north east of Haliburton, the largest town in the immediate area and 40 minutes from Banroft to the west.

It is just 20 minutes from the southeastern entrance to Algonquin Provincial Park and some of the most beautiful undisturbed and protected natural areas of the province.

It is easily accessible on major Ontario highways and regional roads. Estimated travel times are:

Esson Lake is 3 miles long and boasts a level 5 water quality designation { Highest level as designated by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources - water quality and buffering capacity to acid rain } It is a spring and runoff fed lake that is over 100 feet at its deepest point. It supports a natural habitat for Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Perch and as of this century, Rainbow trout and the renowned Haliburton Gold and Haliburton Silver breeds of lake trout propagated and stalked by local conservationists.

Esson Lake has a long heritage of good fishing and clean water for all water activities. It is a headwater lake for the Trent Severn water system and therefore has a release damn that controls water flow to the creeks and rivers that eventually make their way to the Trent. Water levels drop over the spring to fall season but all water activities remain unaffected by this change.
